Our Team

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of Iduka Corporation consists of the following individuals:


Joan Barnes, Chair

Joan has over 25 years of managerial experience. In her business career, Joan held senior management roles at Graphic Artistry (Design Studio), Direct Action Marketing, and QVC. She directed her talents to print buying and became Manager of Corporate Purchasing at QVC’s Corporate Headquarters for more than ten years. In that position she reported directly to the Director of Corporate Purchasing and was responsible for purchasing materials used at all sites and warehouses, printed materials to support products and all departmental needs, working closely with the heads of all departments at Corporate Headquarters. She managed a budget of $20,000,000 a year.

Joan has always been involved in her community and is still actively involved with her husband, Daniel Barnes, in the local Rotary Club.

Joan serves as a Chair of Iduka’s Board of Directors.

Joan has a B.A. in English from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.


Mark Stieber, Vice Chair

Angela Lorefice, Secretary

Before joining Iduka, Angela held managerial positions at California Closets, and Verizon Communications Inc., encompassing a 20 year professional business career in Quality Assurance, Project Management, Training & Development, Human Resource Management, and Process Improvement.

During her tenure at California Closets Angela was promoted from within to assist in process improvements, and made recommendations which resulted in a cost savings of over $7,000 to the Communications Budget, and $5,000 in Production Costs. At Verizon Communications she exceeded her objectives as a Network Engineer managing project completion dates, was the recipient of the NAACP, Region II Outstanding Achievement Award for furthering the cause of Equal Employment Opportunity, was selected to serve as a team member of the Strategic Intent Committee, the Call Center Design committee, and was appointed to the Extended Leadership Team for organizational improvements. While attending Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, Angela was appointed Chief of Staff of the winning simulated Corporation whose strategy expanded market share, and created and saved jobs. Her organization’s strategy led to a quadrupling in stock prices.

Angela serves as Secretary of Iduka’s Board of Directors.

Angela has a B.A. in Business Administration with a major in Management from Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY.

Allan Cohen, Treasurer

Before relocating to Florida in 2006, Allan spent 33 years serving the citizens and taxpayers of New York. He began his career with the New York State Department of Labor, and then spent 25 years with the Office of the State Comptroller. As Director of the Hauppauge Regional Office of the State Comptroller’s Division of Local Government Services and Economic Development, Allan was responsible for providing fiscal oversight of local governments on Long Island. He managed and supervised a staff of from twelve to fifteen auditors who conducted finance related and performance audits, as well as budget reviews, and provided technical assistance and training to local government officials. For several years he was responsible for reviewing the $2 billion annual budget of the County of Nassau. He conducted an audit of one Long Island town that resulted in the town recovering more than $50,000 that had been overpaid to its employees, and his audit of another Long Island town resulted in the indictment and conviction of the town comptroller for falsifying documents provided to the Office of the State Comptroller. In recognition of his efforts Allan received merit awards in 1997 and 2004.

Since retiring from his position with New York State Allan has filled some of his time operating a small CPA firm specializing in income tax preparation in Port St. Lucie Florida.

Allan serves as Treasurer of Iduka’s Board of Directors, and Chair of the Budget Committee.

Allan has a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. in Marketing, both from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, and completed an accounting curriculum at Queens College, NY. He is a Certified Public Accountant (Florida and New York) and a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Society of Accountants. Nuno Alves, Director


Dan Barnes, Director

Daniel was born and raised on Long Island, NY. He received an art scholarship to Pratt Institute. While studying at Adelphi University, Garden City, NY, he was appointed Editor of the Campus Newspaper, Art Editor of the Yearbook and was President of his fraternity. In 1951, after working as an illustrator and copywriter, he joined his father in the printing business while serving in the Air Force Reserve. Hampshire Press grew in the next 20 years to become one of the largest printers on Long Island, specializing in manufacturing music and books for New York Publishers, such as Belwin Mills, Warner Music, Cherry Lane, MGM (Big 3), Alfred, Random House, Crown, Doubleday, Holt/Rinehart/Winston, and Alfred Knopf. Daniel served Rotary International as a District Governor, Zone Councilor and International Assembly Instructor and now enjoys semi-retirement in Florida with his wife Joan.

Daniel is a member of Iduka’s Board of Directors.

Daniel has a B.A. in Business Administration from Adelphi University, Garden City, NY.

Gregory Bushong, Director


Gregory started his academic career as a teaching assistant at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN, and at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA where he graduated with a Ph.D. in Accounting.

Gregory has authored one book and several articles in peer reviewed journals, including Issues in Accounting Education, The Journal of Accountancy, The Small Business Controller, and The CPA Journal. Gregory has received several awards including the 1992 College of Business Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award at the University of Kentucky, the 2000 Outstanding College Scholarship award and the 1998 Outstanding College Service award at Wright State University. Currently, he serves as an Editorial Advisor to Journal of Accountancy. He focuses his research and other scholarly activities on the application of accounting and auditing standards to small businesses, small business management, and accounting education.

Gregory is currently the Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Accounting in the Barry Kaye College of Business at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL.

Gregory is a member of Iduka’s Board of Directors.

Gregory holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Accounting from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, a Bachelor of Science degree, and a Master of Business Administration degree both from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN. He is a Certified Public Accountant (Tennessee) and a Certified Management Accountant.


Eurico Costa, Director

Eurico has over 15 years of accumulated professional experience in information systems and technology, having spent the last nine years at Capgemini. His experience spans across several industries, such as Telecom, Financial Services, Insurance, Retail, High Tech, Education, and Non-Profit Organizations, mainly in the field of Architecture.

Over the years Eurico has worked as a Project Manager, Technical Team Leader, Technical Architect, Systems Administrator, Applications Programmer, and Systems Analyst for companies, such as Junior Achievement Worldwide Headquarters, Gartner Group, United Airlines, Investools, Yahoo Search Marketing, AXA Insurance, Merrill Lynch, and several European banks. Eurico has had extensive experience in managing and coordinating off-shore / Right-shore ® teams in complex implementations, in all phases of Information Technology and Information Systems/ projects.

Eurico has also acquired international experience working in projects abroad in Europe, Eastern Europe, and India, as well as the United States, either as part of project teams, or providing expert services to clients in his areas of expertise. He is also very involved in his community and devotes many hours each year as a volunteer interpreter and translation coordinator for his church’s semi-annual world conference.

Eurico is a member of Iduka’s Board of Directors.

Eurico graduated with an Associates degree in Information Systems and Technologies from Universidade Independente in Lisbon, Portugal.

Darlene Craddock, Director

Darlene was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and has been living in the Treasure Coast since 1994. Prior to moving to Port St. Lucie, she worked as a Secretary for a Law Firm in Miami. She also worked in Sales, Promotion, Marketing for two Brazilian newspapers headquartered in Florida, and writes a newspaper column for the Treasure Coast Brazilian newspaper.

She currently works as substitute teacher for the St. Lucie County School District.

She has a passion for assisting others and volunteers for several community organizations in the Treasure Coast, including the Port Saint Lucie Police Depth, Village Green Elementary School, and the Holly Family Catholic Church. She helps organizing and promoting different local cultural events, such as the Brazilian Mardi Gras in Fort Pierce, and Dancing in the Streets in Stuart. Darlene is a member of Iduka’s Board of Directors.

Darlene has a B.A. in Hospitality Management from Hebraico Renascenca College, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Marcia Murphy-Owen, Director

Marcia started her professional career as business owner and manager of Mikemo Garments Limited, Kingston, Jamaica. After relocating to the United States, she joined Jackson Health System and the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL as a Program Coordinator/Training Specialist. As part of her responsibilities she managed the activities of the tuition reimbursement program, developed and implemented policies and procedures, developed and presented a training program, managed the computerized tuition reimbursement network system, and trained and supervised department staff.

Marcia has devoted her time to a wide range of community activities. She was Vice-President and Group Chairperson of the Small Business Association of Jamaica, Volunteer Executive Committee Member and Group Chairperson for the American Cancer Society’s North Dade County Relay for Life, and Sergeant at Arms for the Toastmasters International – Medical Center Speakers Club at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.

Marcia currently works as a realtor and mortgage broker and is a member of the Realtor Association of St. Lucie County, Florida Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors.

Marcia is a member of Iduka’s Board of Directors.

Marcia has a B.A. in Professional Studies from Barry University, Miami, Florida, and has a M.A. in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Judy Roberts, Director

Judy has several years of experience in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. In her professional career, Judy has held a variety of senior management positions, including Assistant Vice President, and Senior Trainer at Bank of America Corporation, and Assistant Director of Training & Development at the University of Miami, where she was responsible for daily oversight of the Professional Development and Training Office and supervised, coached and evaluated exempt and non-exempt direct reports. As part of her duties she coached instructional designers in the creation of training materials to ensure products met quality professional development and adult learning standards, and developed and facilitated the Train-the-Trainer course. She also formulated training policies, programs, schedules, based on knowledge of identified training needs, business systems, or organizational changes.

Judy recently had the position of Corporate Training Developer for a not-for-profit financial corporation in Tallahassee, Florida.

Judy is a member of Iduka’s Board of Directors.

Judy holds a M.S. degree in Adult Education and a B.S. in Communication from Florida International University in Miami. She is also a Qualified Administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), and is a member of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and the American Management Association (AMA).


Management

Luis "Miguel" Martim, Founder, Executive Director

Miguel was born in Maputo, Mozambique and was educated in Africa, Europe, and North America. He has over 25 years of accumulated professional experience in education, and software localization and translation. He started his career as an educator teaching middle and high school courses. While working toward his M.A. and Ph.D. he also taught language courses at Brigham Young University and University of California Santa Barbara, respectively.

Miguel also worked as a linguist and editor for iconic software/network companies such as WordPerfect Corp. and Novell Inc. As part of their International Documentation departments, his team was responsible for coining many of the localized software terms that are still in use in the computer industry today.

Miguel serves as Executive Director of Iduka Corporation.

Miguel has a B.A. in International Relations with emphasis in Diplomacy and African Studies from the College of Social and Political Sciences at the Technical University of Lisbon; an M.A. in Spanish and Portuguese Studies from Brigham Young University, Provo, UT; and an A.B.D. in Portuguese Studies from University of California Santa Barbara.
